Kansas City, Kan- The discussion on AI in breast cancer detection highlighted the evolving role of AI in mammogram readings. 
Dr. Onalisa Winblad and Dr. Carol Fabian emphasized the benefits of 3D mammography over 2D, noting that 3D mammograms detect more cancers and reduce false positives. Dr. Jessica Peterson's research showed no difference in cancer detection rates before and after AI integration but noted AI missed nearly one in five cancers. 
The panel agreed AI is a tool, not a replacement for radiologists, and stressed the importance of validating AI tools.
